IDAH 2015 Recap
Last Saturday, February 21st, 2015, over 200 people gathered at the Parke Regency Hotel in Bloomington, Illinois for a day full of education, harmony, coaching, and fun at IDAH.
Some of the best and biggest names in the society were on-hand to deliver personalized coaching, vocal production classes, & barbershop history classes. These names include Rick Knight, Rik Johnson, David & Sandy Wright, Kevin Keller, Steve Tramack, and more!
15 BHS quartets, two SAI quartets, two BHS choruses, and numerous individual registrants took advantage of these classes and sessions. Each quartet sang a song during our Parade of Quartets during dinner, and each chorus shared a song with us during our last general session of the day.
The evening concert kicked off with our 2015 IDAH Youth Chorus under the direction of After Hours, 2010 Illinois District Champs. From there, 2014 District Champions Drive Time showed off their talents with a number of great charts. After Hours took the stage and debuted some new music they’ll be taking to Pittsburgh this summer. International 2nd place silver-medalists Forefront wowed the crowd with a wide array of music (and some, um, “interesting” jokes), which all led up to our 2006 International Champions, Vocal Spectrum, to close the show. As an encore, After Hours, Forefront, and Vocal Spectrum formed a VLQ and sang “Smile,” as made famous the The New Tradition.
Many thanks to everyone who braved less than ideal weather and travel conditions to get to Bloomington, and a big hat tip to Terry Ludwig and Tim Pashon for an excellent day of harmony!
