Hail to the Champions!

[T]he Illinois District’s first all-in-one convention was a big success as 11 choruses and 17 quartets crossed the stage in Bloomington. As the echoes faded away, the big winners were:

  • Drive Time – 2014 Illinois District Quartet Champions
  • West Towns Chorus (Chicagoland West Suburban chapter) – 2014 Illinois District Chorus Champions
  • Tribute – 2014 Illinois District Seniors Quartet Champions
  • Boom! Shakalaka – 2014 Illinois District College Quartet Champions and 2015 International College Quartet Contest qualifier
  • At Least We’re Loud! – 2014 Illinois District Novice Quartet Champions
  • Sound of Illinois Chorus (Bloomington chapter) – 2015 International Chorus Competition qualifier
  • After Hours – International Quartet Competition qualifier
  • Take Note – International Seniors Quartet Competition qualifier
  • Fox Valley Men of Harmony (Elgin chapter) – Most Improved Chorus

The plateau champions in the chorus contest:

  • Plateau A: Macomb
  • Plateau 2A: Elgin
  • Plateau 3A: Chicagoland West Suburban
  • Plateau 4A: Belleville
  • Plateau 5A: Bloomington

The Quartet Champions Association put on a wonderful show Saturday night featuring 1980 champs Friends, 2011 champs Waldorf Hair Company (celebrating their annual retirement reunion), 2013’s Chronicle, and our 2010 champions — who qualified for the 2015 International Quartet Competition with an average score of 86.9 — After Hours.

Scanned copies of the score sheets have been posted to the Illinois District’s Facebook page, and we’ll link to the official copies at the Harmonet as soon as they are online.  And don’t miss the great action photos of the competing quartets and choruses at the Illinois District Photo Gallery!
