Ed Wilson Memorial Quartet Service Award

Purpose of the award -- This award is named for a long time Barbershopper and Director of the Arlington Heights Chapter. Ed suffered a heart attack as he was leaving the stage and passed away shortly after directing the Arlingtones at the International Contest in 1969.

When is it given -- The award is presented prior to the start of the Quartet Preliminary Contest.

Who presents the award -- The current Convention Chairman will present the award.

What criteria are used -- The award is given to a District Quartet who has given significant, sustained achievement in quartetting. This quartet stands alone by their actions and support to the local community, to the Illinois District and to quartetting. The Quartet must be a currently registered quartet for at least one year.

How is the information obtained -- Nominations are sought from District Officers, Chapter Presidents and members of the QCA (Quartet Champions Association).

What is the physical award -- Typically, four plaques are given, one to each member of the winning quartet. There is also a large plaque, used for display purposes only, that will have the quartet name and date engraved on it.
